Featured Community Organization: Hays Caldwell Women's Center

The featured organization this month is the Hays Caldwell Women's Center (HCWC). Founded in 1978, the Center provides essential services to women, men and children by providing education, violence prevention services and crisis intervention to victims of family violence, dating violence, sexualassault and child abuse. Their mission is to create an environment where violence and abuse are not tolerated in the communities they serve.

The Hays Caldwell Women’s Center operates three facilities onsite, as well as an office in Lockhart and limited services in other Hays or Caldwell communities. Their campus houses the McCoy Family Shelter,a 24-hour access to safe shelter for survivors of family violence; the Counseling and Resource Center, that provides crisis services for survivors of family violence, dating violence, sexual assault and adult survivors of child sexual abuse who are not in need of emergency shelter, and the Center for Community Partnerships, which is co-located with Roxanne’s House, the children’s advocacy center for children who are victims of child abuse and their protective caregivers.

Hays Caldwell Women’s Center provides vital services to women, men and children, throughout the San Marcos community, and beyond, covering all of Hays and Caldwell Counties. Services are free and confidential. For ways to get involved and to learn more about them, go to www.hcwc.org
